Views from the Balcony

Good morning,

Today I'm featuring images taken from our balcony aboard Freedom of the Seas sailing in the Caribbean.  On this particular day we were visiting the Port of St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
My Honey (that's him) and I enjoyed breakfast on the balcony, then spent another hour or so just watching the view as we arrived in St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
It's hard to see nine decks below, but there are seagulls enjoying the breakfast being "stirred up" by our wake.
It is much easier to catch them with the camera when they are in the sky.
But, even in flight, it is sometimes tricky.
When I look up and aft, I see a hot tub hanging over the side of the ship.  What a view it is from there!
Looking straight out to sea, it is just a picture post card day of sea and sky.  Have I mentioned that blue is my favorite color?
Looking forward, I see the wing bridge and St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. way off in the distance.
The seagulls are still with us...
...watching for fly fish and other tasty tidbits.
 Here comes the pilot boat.
 Looking fore and...
...aft we see even more people out on balconies.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection comes out to look at us while we look at them.
We moved into the harbor and were soon tied up.
How very beautiful.  St. Thomas has always been a favorite port of call.

My Honey went to a meeting on board and I...
...went ashore to the drug store at Havensight Mall to purchase some very over-priced mouth wash, hair conditioner, sun lotion, and foot cream.  ;)
Later in the evening, the ship was ready for departure when I took this image of the beautiful clouds over St. Thomas.

Tomorrow I'll be back with more images of our cruise aboard Freedom of the Seas.

Very best,
Lois

Check out Watery Wednesday.

  7. Hi,

Yes, I love this series of images, too. The variety of blues at sea is just incredible.

Montanangirl, these images are of a new cruise. My Honey had on board meetings to attend for one week. He is a Maritime Marine Engineer so we spend a lot of time at sea.

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.

    Very best,
    Lois

  9. ...beautiful photos!! ...and even cooler...I think your gull is a Northern Gannet! These incredibly beautiful seabirds spend most of their time at sea.

  10. Good morning,

Thank you so much, Kelly, for identifying the bird in my images as a Northern Gannet. I really appreciate that. We were able to watch him and others along side the ship for quite some time.

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.

    Very best,
    Lois
