We have a new rental property in our front garden. ;)
Kjell just finished this darling bird house! We had to keep the first one to enjoy ourselves, but eventually, he'll make a similar one for the shop.
Kjell's design is genius for security for the winged family and the ability to clean between rentals. Above you can see how all parts come apart for cleaning.
The floor slides into place.
The front slides down from the top.
This is an image Kjell took while the birdhouse was still in the workshop. It is the inside of the front of the house showing the "ladder" grooves so the baby birds can climb out when it is time to fly.
Here's an image of the inside of the roof showing how it will stay in place when slid onto the house and until it is time for cleaning.
So here it is waiting for a new family. We have it mounted where we can watch from our living room french doors.
One more important feature: The roof is constructed with plugs, no nails, so rust will not be a problem.
I'm really excited about this! This test house is mounted lower to the ground than it will eventually be in its permanent spot in our garden. Right now, Kjell wants to monitor the weathering of the wood so has mounted it where he can check it regularly.
Come see what other wood items he has made and are available here. I'm looking forward to seeing the next wood creations from Kjell!
Happy Summer!
Lois
It is beautiful! The birds will enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous! Did he design it with any particular bird species in mind? I know different species houses have different hole sizes and dimensions. I’m so impressed with his ingenuity!
ReplyDeleteWonderful. Looks like It's from Hobbit!
ReplyDeleteHi KaHolly,
ReplyDeleteThe hole in the bird 1.5" in diameter. It is suitable for most birds in our area.
It's so nice to see you here! Thanks for stopping by.
