The Actors - Civil War Reenactment in Bardstown, Kentucky

We arrived very early in the day at the Civil War Museum and the Pioneer Village next door where the Battle Reenactment would occur last August.  The people were wonderful and invited us to come in to see their encampment.

Many of these people are family and are involved in historical reenactments throughout the year.  Their costumes are quite realistic hot and scratchy wool.

I like this man's t-shirt:  "Original Freedom Fighters" with an image of an American Indian.

For those who do this and take it quite seriously, the ranks are meaningful and play into the pecking order of the group and the performance.  It works out very well!

 That's wool, it's August, it's hot!  They say they get used to it and they don't mind at all.

 What a wonderful portrait!  These generous people answered all of our questions and were very willing to pose for us.  We were the only "tourists" there.

 There are more images to come of a shooting demonstration they gave for us.  It was great fun!

 And, for the last picture for today.  This young man posed with his gun, but the background is what makes the image even more interesting.  The rocking horses belonging to the small children and the "We don't rent pigs" sign put the finishing touches on this one!
