Makers Mark Distillery - Part 4 of 4

Good morning,

This is the last part of our tour of Makers Mark Distillery near Bardstown, Kentucky.  Above is an image of the Aging Barn.  In the center front is a barrel cut open so we can see the charred wood inside that gives the bourbon its color and flavor.

The barrels are manually rotated during the aging process.

After the aging room, we adjourned to the gift shop where there is a tasting bar.  The children on the tour were not allowed in this area, but they had plenty to see in the gift shop. 

My Honey also passed on the tasting since he is the designated driver.  The amount of bourbon at the tasting was barely enough to get a taste, though, so these people aren't getting drunk after the tour. 

 After the tasting we bought some bourbon flavored coffee beans in the gift shop, then returned to the Toll House at the entrance to the property where we purchased a bourbon burger and bourbon flavored beans.  The only thing you could purchase here without bourbon flavor was the soft drink. ;)

 Before we left the area, we drove around the property to the other side where we could get an image of the distillery.  This image gives a good view of this small company nestled in the hills of Kentucky.

 As we left, we drove past the Toll House where we had eaten lunch.

We turned and looked back up the hill to see a classic barn from the old days in this part of the country.

We are probably the only people who visited Bardstown and Makers Mark who didn't buy any bourbon, but that bourbon flavored coffee was fantastic!
