Kentucky Countryside and Arrival in Bardstown

Good morning,

We are still aboard Freedom of the Seas, but today and for the next three days I'll share some images we took before we got here.  Since we came on board I have had the time to format the pictures and write about them so here goes!

Today's images were taken during our road trip to Kentucky to celebrate My Honey's birthday.
We both love road trips and photo safaris so three days away in Bardstown provided us with both.  Above is tobacco just about ready to harvest.
We were also in the middle of Kentucky horse country.  Beautiful!
This is My Old Kentucky Dinner Train Restaurant.  We had dinner on the train several years ago when we first visited Bardstown.  The train cars are out of the past:  one of them is the dinner car used on President Eisenhower's train.  The ride itself is a round trip into the hills of Kentucky while dinner is being served.  Very nice, but we passed on this one this trip.
 Bardstown has gorgeous old homes.
This is the old court house, now the tourist information center.
Parking on the street is free and there was no problem finding a spot.
There are banks and churches on almost every corner.  I'll have more images of these in another post.
This is a little town that is still very much alive with wonderful people.
And, if you want to take a trip back in time while you see the town, you can do it in a horse drawn carriage.

More Bardstown images to come!

Enjoy,
Lois

  5. Hi Lois'
I love your road trips, we watch a TV show here called American Pickers, you would probably know it, about two guys traveling around your country towns looking for antiques and it reminds me of your lovely trips, the scenery is stunning, thanks again.

  6. Hi Everyone,

Yes, we sure do love our road trips. I get a kick out of working on the images we took right before we left now that we are on board Freedom. What different scenery! :)

Chris, we watch Pickers, too. We so enjoy that show and all the great things they find. Most of the things they find remind us of something we have had or have seen in the very distant past. ;)

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by and for your very kind comments.

    All the best,
    Lois
