After having lunch at the General Denver Hotel (see yesterday's post), we went for a walk in Wilmington, Ohio.
This wonderful Small Town America city is a photographer's paradise.
Look at the detail on the buildings. Everything is beautifully well-kept.
This store has beautifully hand made items. *sigh*
On every light post there are flags and flowers.
It seems the Convention and Visitors Bureau has taken over the bank clock.
This is the Clinton County (Ohio) Court House. I remember when I was a child and my parents used to take us on Sunday rides we would visit county seats to get pictures of court houses. My father had a collection of pictures of every court house in the State of Ohio.
And, around the corner where we saw the clock is the front of the bank. The Corinthian capitals on those columns are gorgeous!
On the opposite side of the street are more colorful buildings. Side by side is a church and a gold-buying office.
More period architecture.
What a beautiful small town. Some of the best photo ops are close to home.
I hope you've enjoyed our road trip with us.
Very best,
Lois

Oh, my goodness. So much in these pictures remind me of the early 50's. . . the Rainbo Bread strip on the door - remember the old Pepsi and Coca Cola metal strips on store doors long ago? And when you mentioned going for a ride. . . that was a big thing back then. How many families today just "go for a ride" to the country??? The building fronts! That's right out of the 40's and 50's. You really put me to shame. . . there are places like this all over western New York, once you get out of the big city. . . but how often do I stop to take pictures? (Don't ask!) I really enjoyed these two posts.
