Rafting on the North Carolina-Tennessee Border

Good morning,

The image above is fuzzy because I snapped it as we were moving along about 70 miles per hour.
Immediately after we crossed from North Carolina into Tennessee we pulled off the highway and onto a bridge where we had taken pictures of the river below several years ago.
These beautiful flowers were on a tree growing below the bridge.
 Shortly after we pulled in this bus flew past us on its way up stream with customers ready to ride the rapids below.
 This is the view of the rapids downstream from the bridge...
 ...and just then from upstream we spotted a rubber raft...
 ...with six people aboard.
 This seemed to be some sort of training event...
 ...concluded from the conversation we could overhear and the lettering on the side of the raft.
 The water was fast so the people moved quickly toward the rapids below us...
 ...where these folks handled the rapids with ease.
 Back on the road we found ourselves behind a horse and wagon.  Ok, it's horses in a trailer...
 ...and it wasn't long before we found ourselves in Dandridge, Tennessee, and our Hampton Inn for the night.

After being at sea for ten weeks where there are so many beautiful things to see and do, it is such a pleasure to see something different and the beauty in these mountains.  Driving home from the port and seeing all of this is so much nicer than flying over it.

Tune in tomorrow for more of the journey home.

Best,
Lois

  3. Hello Lois
    Good to know you are back on dry land, home with the family and friends you love.
    Don't always get time to drop in personally but I always enjoy seeing (courtesy of my reader) what sights you come up with - makes me feel as if I've journeyed along with you.
    And of course you know the best thing about land travel is that there is no weight limit.... what would you do without all that crafty stuff to bide the time away lol
    Lovely to see

  6. I'll bet it is a real treat to see all of the beautiful countryside! We had one of those trees in our old yard. I don't know what it's called but we used to call it a Butterfly bush as there would be butterflies all over it! Just beautiful!
    Love Di ♥

  13. I'm not sure what river it is. Perhaps someone else will know. We were pretty much out in the country with few signs when we got off of the highway.

  17. River rafting--what absolute fun on a hot, hot day!

    FEELING RATHER DUCKY

    Feeling rather ducky?
    Here’s what I would do:
    Find a pond or puddle,
    One that’s right for you;
    Take a sturdy life vest,
    Strap it on your back;
    Jump into the puddle,
    Give a little quack!
