My Honey's Strip Steaks and Marinade Recipe

Good morning,

As promised yesterday, here is the first meal My Honey made on his new grill/smoker.

My Honey's Marinade Recipe:

1 T Vegetable Oil - rubbed onto steaks

Mix the following in a separate bowl:
2 T brown sugar
1 T paprika
1-1/2 t coarse sea salt
1 t black pepper
1 t minced garlic
1/2 t celery salt
12 t cumin

Rub the mixed ingredients onto the steaks and allow to marinate in the refrigerator for about three hours.

Then grill to your liking.
All I can claim is doing the grocery shopping and wrapping up those potatoes.
My Honey did all the rest.
And, then there were four.  ;)
Use your imagination for the wonderful aromas coming from the grill.
Almost finished!  When turning, My Honey grills at 10 o'clock, 2 o'clock positions to get those pretty lines.
Steak and potatoes.  Yum!  There is barely room for more veggies on this plate.  I took the picture before they got on there.

I have now appointed My Honey to do all the cooking for the rest of the summer.  ;)  I don't think he will mind.

Best,
Lois

  2. Hello Lois
Gosh those steaks are enormous - glad to hear there were vegetables as well as thats a lot of meat for each person.
About your marimnade - does the capital T mean teaspoon the same as the lower case one - or is it away of writing tablesoon rather then tbsp?
    Take care

  4. Hi,

We share our food with two Labrador Retrievers so they each got a portion of those steaks. We had romaine lettuce, cucumbers, and broccoli with that meal. ;) For dessert we had vanilla yogurt with fresh strawberries and blueberries.

    In the recipe:
    T = tablespoon
    t - teaspoon

    Enjoy!

    Lois

  7. Yum! My mouth is watering! What kind of veggie did you put with it? I've run out of good veggie ideas to eat with grilled meat. Oh, I just noticed my question was already answered in the comments......sounds delicious :-)

  12. Yummy! But just to let you know, when you're referring to a person, it's "Lois's" The second s after the apostrophe in a word that ends in s is only absent if you're referring to something in the plural that isn't a name example: "The ladies' wheelchairs"

  13. Hi Everyone,

Yes, that was a delightful meal. We are having a great time being home doing all of these home things again.

Welcome, Amanda! I really enjoy your Mom's blog, too.

Ashley, thanks for stopping by. Regarding your grammar lesson, both ways are correct: Lois' or Lois's.

When I went to school it was Lois' that was in current usage. It is the same with red, white, and blue or red, white and blue. I prefer the former, Harvard comma, red, white, and blue, but there will be those who will argue about that, too.

    Very best,
    Lois

  15. I need to remember this...sounds like something that would be good on a roast on the grill also.

  16. That marinade is very similar to a spice rub that we make up for our steaks. My hubby is the 'barbecue chef' in this house too! I love summer because he cooks most things outside for us.

    Cheers - Joolz
