Summer is so much fun. After grilling dinner, we took the grate off of the grill, threw in a few sticks, and had an instant "camp fire" for grilling marshmallows. It works just fine when you live in the city where you can't have open fires on the ground.
These super giant marshmallows are the biggest I have ever seen. When I saw them in the grocery they almost jumped into my cart for the next time we would be grilling with the kids.
Katie likes hers "flamed."
And, that's exactly how she prepared it. ;)
David's is roasted through so the outer layer just slides off...
...and right into his mouth. Oh, yum!
Aunt Catherine and Anna are still at the grill. Aunt Catherine is toasting for Alex. The grill is exceptionally hot and is just at his eye level with smoke is blowing out so it is not safe for him to grill his own. When he goes camping where there is a fire pit, he can toast his own marshmallows. He didn't mind having Aunt Catherine doing his toasting for him.
The hard part for him was waiting...
...and waiting for it to cool!
Finally!
Katie prepared a second, also very much to her liking.
And Anna, with years and years of experience toasting marshmallows, made hers golden brown.
Summer! This is so much fun!
I hope you've enjoyed our marshmallow toast with us.
Very best,
Lois

Looks like great fun. I used to eat about five raw marshmallows for each one that got toasted. I was slightly impatient.
ReplyDeleteI remember doing that as a kid, and for my daughter. What fun.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a whole lot of fun. I think we could roast marshmellows without a camp fire. It's hotter than Hades outside! Loved the rolling eyes on your little fellow, had to chuckle...and the golden brown marshmellow was perfectly cooked!! Am so glad to get my computer back!!...debbie
ReplyDeleteYUMMY and great fun.
ReplyDeleteOh, my, I haven't had a roasted marshmallow in years. It sounds heavenly, and those giant marshmallows you found look great. I haven't seen them in the stores here, but now I will keep my eyes peeled.
ReplyDeleteI noticed those extremely large marshmallows for the first when I was shopping for the 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteI will have to buy some for the campfires this fall. My grandkids always loved making s'mores.
Oh that Katie knows a good toasted marshmallow!!! I've not seen the big one's I will look for them. It's too hot here to even be outside but we do a lot of fires and toasting in the fall!
ReplyDeleteYou are havin' so much fun!!
Love Di ♥
I love the Krohn! And where in the world did you find those marshmallows?
ReplyDeleteHello everyone,
ReplyDeleteYes, that was such fun. I believe i got the marshmallows at Meijer, but it could have been Kroger. I had them a couple of weeks sealed in the bag before the toasting opportunity occurred. Anna had seen them and asked about every day when we were going to toast.
Debbie, it's so good to have you back!!!!
I'm with you, Steve, I used to eat a lot of them raw, too. :)
It's amazing how we remember such a simple thing as roasting marshmallows when we were kids. I hope my grand kids will remember these events, too.
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.
Very best,
Lois
I"m with Katie...FLAMING!
