On this day in 1945, Nazi Germany surrendered to the Allies of World War II.

Freedom is not free.

Lois Evensen: Midwest, United States; I'm the wife of a fantastic guy, mother to three children who have grown up to be colleagues and friends, and grandmother to the greatest six grandchildren anyone could want. Four Labrador Retriever canine athletes are also members of our family. For years I had my own business and was an adjunct professor. I am now delighted to have more time to do so many of the things I love doing with those I love. Whether bread making and gardening at home, knitting and crocheting at sea, or capturing digital images everywhere, my hands are always busy. My daughter encouraged me to start this blog for family near and far and friends old and new. I am so glad she did. I enjoy reading blogs of others with similar interests and getting to know those who write them. I hope you find what I have to share interesting or helpful and that you will share your comments with me.
