So Much History in Those Rings

Good morning,

We followed this truck for many miles through Tennessee.  I was fascinated with the rings in these logs. 
Without being close enough to actually count them, I would guestimate there are more than 100 rings in some of the larger logs.  It is fascinating to think of all that has happened in the world during the time those trees were growing, isn't it!

    Something to ponder for sure. I am often leery of being too close to one of those huge log trucks on our narrow roads we have here. We met 3 tandem ones yesterday during a snow squall on a two lane highway but they were in a hill's passing lane so not as scary. Safe travels to you.

    I, too, have always been touched by looking at the rings in a log. We had a huge tree cut down a number of years back that was on three property lines. I counted over 100 and I couldn't help thinking, "If only that tree could talk. . . "

    Those were some big trees. Growing up in the west I got used to seeing logging trucks roaring up and down the road.

    We see very few logging trucks here, but I always enjoy seeing them when we're traveling. My dad was a logger so I grew up in logging country and there's a bit of nostalgia for me of that long ago time. I enjoyed seeing your photos of your trip north. I know you'll be happy to be home again and spending time with those sweet pups of yours.

    Those are some big trees. The rings represent a lifetime of stories these trees have seen.
