Alien Ship?

Good morning,

Is this an alien ship on the water near St. Thomas?
No, it's a life boat out for a regularly scheduled drill and spin around the harbor.

The life boats these days are covered, equipped with food and water, and are quite comfortable compared to the open boats that we see in old movies.

Hopefully, we'll never have to use them.

All the best,
Lois

  1. I'm glad that they are tested every now and then.

  2. Have you ever seen the lofeboats that go down the slide and fall into the water? That'd be fun as a carnival ride!

  4. Mark,

The life boats that are ejected into the water via a slide are generally on commercial ships. They were invented by a Norwegian company for commercial ships.

There are slides for life rafts on large passenger ships, but are generally just for the crew members. The life boats are for the guests/passengers.

Ah, the life at sea! ;)

  5. That's pretty neat. I had no idea they were built like that now-a-days. Hope you never need one though!

  7. What an improvement from when the Titanic went down! Remember the lady that asked, "Do they have separate life boats for First Class passengers?"

  8. When we went on our Cruise aboard the Carnival Pride, the Life boats were pretty much the same type. Glad we didn't have to use them!
