Good morning,
We are working hard while on "vacation." My Honey and I are still splitting and stacking those logs from the four huge trees we had taken down a few months ago.
The pile of logs is getting smaller, but we still have plenty to do. It may look simple for him to sit there next to the splitter, but he is moving these logs over there to get them split. That's a lot of work quite a challenge with some of those huge logs.
I help with the log moving to the splitter and stack them after they are split. We have eight log racks like the one above. Most of them are full. ;)
The rest of the trees on our property are safe for awhile.
Time to move inside and knit in front of a warm fire.

Moving those logs around is hard work.
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in the White Mountains of Arizona as a kid we heated the house with wood. Brother and I sawed with a bow saw and split the logs with a sledge hammer and wedge. That was work also. Kept us in good shape and out of trouble.
I never saw a log "splitter" before, besides a human being! That's a pretty nifty piece of equipment! Sounds like you have enough wood to keep you warm for a couple of winters!

ReplyDeleteSherry, we have a nice warm fire going tonight. We have snow and more snow out there. A couple of days ago it was nearly 70+ F out there!

Looks like a familiar site that happens at my house every year!! You'll certainly be able to keep warm. As long as there is not 'hurry', I enjoy handling wood.
