Travel Tip

Good morning,

Just a brief travel tip today.

As I drop off luggage to the porter as we are boarding a ship or anywhere your luggage leaves your sight, it pays to take a picture before it is rolled or pulled away.
Of course, it's also important to have the usual tags with your name and contact information.  I always add a colorful crocheted disk that I can show to the porter when we are picking up luggage.

And, finally, take pictures!  It is amazing how much easier it is to show a picture of any missing luggage to those helping you find it than it is to describe a bag that probably looks like most of the other bags in the terminal.  I have adopted the policy of taking pictures of my luggage as I come and go.  With the wonders of digital photography, we can immediately see those images and show them to anyone else who needs to see them.

Now you can relax and enjoy your trip.  :)

All the best,
Lois

  2. What a great idea Lois. I never thought of doing that. When we go on that cruise tour and the subsequent cruise on the Brilliance this summer, a picture of our luggage will be the first one on the camera.

  3. Great idea, the pictures and the crocheted tag both.

  4. Also, avoid black luggage! Everyone has black luggage and it makes it hard to spot yours on the carousel at the airport! When I traveled to Ireland on a guided bike tour, I also put my itinerary inside the luggage - in plain view - just in case it got lost, as we were changing lodging every other night.

  5. Good tips! I have a set of your crocheted disks and I'll have to remember to take that photo next time we're traveling.

  6. This is a good idea, once I had a bag lost and I was sure was mostly black and a little blue. The wife said it was mostly blue and a little black. Never got the bag back, but years later, I found a picture that the bag was in, and the wife was right, as always.

  7. Great tip! I'll have to try that! I've also tried keeping a picture of my own address in my camera... just in case I lose it and just in case someone honest picks it up. I've never had to use it yet but it might come in handy...
