Good morning,
One afternoon I took my afternoon walk on Deck 4 aboard Freedom of the Seas as we were sailing away from Labadee, Haiti.
In the center of this image you can see the two domes of the area where seaside weddings are held.
Good bye for today, Labadee. We have all enjoyed another day in paradise here today.
I walked across the ship to the port side to take this picture of the sun on the water as we sailed out of Labadee.
So very pretty.
Enjoy,
Lois
Labadee must be a small port. Looks to be nothing but mountains and little area for residents and town....debbie
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like the last best, but they are all nice pictures. Darn it, Lois, I was content to stay home today, but now I really REALLY want to go to the beach and smell the salty air... You've quite ruined my day, haha!
ReplyDeletehow is Haiti now? Did you see any devastation? We hear on our news that things are still bad for the poorest there but then isn't that always how it is. Wish I was sailing around somewhere.....I will have to settle for sharing your trip.
ReplyDeleteOh, the views are luxurious!
ReplyDeleteGood morning,
ReplyDeleteLabadee is on the opposite side of the island from the Haiti you see in news reports. This part of the island is leased exclusively for cruise guests. When the earth quake hit some time ago, the cruise company thought of not coming here any more, but the people of Haiti asked that that they continue because of the source of revenue that the cruise ships bring. Not only the lease payments benefit the local population, but employment and sales of local merchandise. In addition, the cruise company has donated tons and tons of aid materials and has provided personnel to help in rebuilding. There is a very good relationship between the people of Haiti and the cruise company.
All of this was in the news when the earth quake happened and shortly thereafter.
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by and for your kind comments.
All the best,
Lois
Paradise for sure! It's so lovely there.
ReplyDeleteLois, thanks for the photos and the very detailed explanation of how Haitians feel about the cruis ship industry.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Looks like you are having a great time :)
