Voyager of the Seas Helipad

Good morning,

Aboard each of Royal Caribbean's newest ships there are helipads that are used for medical evacuations if necessary.
When not in use as a helipad, this area is open to guests to sit and watch the ocean go by.  Of course, when in use as a helipad the benches are removed and guests are restricted from the area.

Earlier Royal Caribbean ships without helipads could also accommodate air evacuations.  Click here to see my images of an air medical evacuation off the coast of Norway from Splendour of the Seas in June, 2000.

    Nice to know that medical help is available. But also what a nice view for those wishing to sit there and relax!

    It does give you a feeling of comfort knowing there is medical support availabe in an emergency!

    The heli pad looks soooo tiny!! Good thing to have on a big ole ship though!...debbie

    As a former USAF Pararescueman all I can say is I wish more ships had helipads in my day. Maintaining a stable hover is an art form not all of the pilots I worked with had mastered. Being lowered onto a ship's deck while the pilot fought the controls was no fun at all!
