Good morning,
When I first saw this tree, I tried to figure out what was at the base of the trunk...
...then I realized that IS the base of the trunk. Doesn't it look like a giant monster foot? It's easy to see how monster stories can start deep in the forest, isn't it!
This Ginkgo tree is in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. The grounds of the cemetery are also a botanical gardens. Beautiful.
Enjoy,
Lois
Giant foot for sure, Lois...toes, claws and all!
ReplyDeleteWow...it does look like a big giant foot! Scary! Great shot!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! How was your first week at sea?
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteThe first week out here was great. We have friends on board for two weeks so I haven't taken a whole lot of pictures yet.
Thanks for stopping by!
All the best,
Lois

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite subjects Lois! It does look like a great big foot at the base of the tree.
ReplyDeleteOh, Lois, I for sure love this! What a tree!
ReplyDeleteWow! It really looks like a giant monster foot! Great picture! I'm going to have to show my boys. Very cool!
ReplyDeleteThat is some mighty big foot that tree has got. Now you know how we've got stories of walking trees. Just picture it.
ReplyDeleteIt does look like the man whose head and upper body was deformed who lived in England.
ReplyDeleteThe foot at toes and looks like toenails? I was sure it was a sculpture of some sort.
Dayton has a cemetery that is filled with beautiful statues but also trees of all kinds.
I have never seen anything like that Lois! If that didn't look like some giant claw footed monster, I don't know what does. What an awesome photo to have! Love Di ♥
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw it, I thought big lizard foot!
ReplyDeleteIn the dark of the night....
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the toes on that ginko! I have a tiny ginko growing in my yard. It'll be forever before it gets that big!
ReplyDeleteWe had two large ginko trees outside my middle school. I love their fan-shaped leaves. Great photo, Lois!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteSince My Honey was born and raised in Norway (until he went to sea at 15) he grew up with Troll stories. This tree just shows where such stories come from!
Wanda, I love your new profile image. Just lovely!
I finally got on line with my own air card connection yesterday while we were in a US port to get to some of your blogs and upload pictures to my own blog. My air card is a better connection than the satellite, but not nearly as stable or as fast as high speed at home. We are grateful for what we have. Also during the limited time we are in a US port I have to go to US Immigration which is quite time consuming. Oh, well, that's the life out here.... :)
Yesterday I did get a few images on line from here on the ship. They'll start appearing on Thursday, 9/22. We have friends on board for two weeks so I haven't been out taking as many pictures as I ususally take.
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by and for your very kind comments.
All the best,
Lois
That is really cool!
