My Honey and I took a ride over to Wyoming, Ohio, where I lived when I was born and where I grew up. It was fun to go over on a beautiful sunny morning and see places that seem to have stopped in time while the rest of the world moved on.
This is the Wyoming Baptist Church, A.D. 1882. It is not the church I attended as a child, but it is on the opposite side of the same block where I lived.
I walked past it many times on my way to school and to play with my friends who lived nearby.
I walked down this street and it still looks the same. I can name the families who lived in these homes when I lived in Wyoming so many years ago. I was very lucky to live here.
More images of Wyoming to come....
Very best,
Lois

I do almost the same thing when I go through Gordon. Gordon where I lived and grew up during World War II. A place where we were the poorest of the poor and knew it.
ReplyDeleteYes, it looks like a wonderful town in which to grow up!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice place to grow up, Lois.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and thoughtful post!
ReplyDeleteAnd they say that you can never go back home again!! Sounds like fun Lois.
ReplyDeleteLove Di ♥
That is a beautiful church and looks to be an ideal town. I always think what a job it must have been to roof those spires.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as if that sidewalk goes on forever, doesn't it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful church... love that huge window =)
Your photos remind me of when we lived on base, in the States, with lots of grass between the sidewalks and the street. I especially like the first photo of the church. May I use it as a background for my cell phone?
ReplyDeleteGood morning,
ReplyDeleteWyoming, Ohio, is a beautiful town. I have more images coming of our visit there that day.
Yes, Ambar, you certainly may use the first image as the background for your cell phone.
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by and for your kind comments.
Best,
Lois

ReplyDeletethe church is lovely, but the homes on that street are even more so! :)
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog by chance... Very interesting post and quite unusual church for our standards!
ReplyDeleteLoved the old church, how lovely it is. Just ooozes holiness. Looks like a great neighborhood! Has it changed much? That's always fun to do....debbie
ReplyDeleteThat church is beautiful; love all those gorgeous windows.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteNo, Debbie, the neighborhood hasn't changed at all from what I could see. It was so wonderful to walk back in time.
Welcome, VP, it's nice to meet you.
Thanks, everyone, for stopping by and for your kind words.
Very best,
Lois
Where was the house that you lived in, I'd love to know?
ReplyDeleteHi Lois, I really enjoyed seeing these photos. Such a charming place and what a picturesque church. I am blessed to live within an hour of where I grew up, walked to church etc. and my parents are buried there, so we go several times per year.
ReplyDeleteI am taking a short blog break to care for my husband, but I'll still be visiting with you. Hope to be back soon.
It's such a pleasure to visit your blog.
It is always nice to go back after a long time and walk the streets you walked as a kid. Nice church and in great shape (or so it looks like)!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and thank you for your sweet comment on my withdrawal post!
Leontien
What a pretty church!
ReplyDeleteI am stopping by to get caught-up on your blog :D
xoxoxo,
Ricki Jill
Beautiful church! I was just looking at the photos of the church on Kjell's blog, and they are bothy so different, but equally lovely. It must have been fun to go back to your old hometown.
ReplyDeleteLois, these are great. Aren't those walks down memory lane just the best ever???
ReplyDeleteI like the architecture of this church. And a nice small place. As you now, we have plenty of small places here in Norway:) Sometimes they are too small.
