My Honey and I spotted this homestead near Cherokee, North Carolina. At first, we thought it was abandoned, but after taking a closer look began to wonder if someone was living here. Notice there are electric lines to the house (?) and some of the dried Kudzu vines have been cleared.
I told My Honey that we might have met with the wrong end of a shotgun if someone was home and we were out there taking pictures.
In another few months these buildings and the truck will be covered with Kudzu vines once again as I am sure they have been every summer for a long, long time.
We didn't get shot, but we got some interesting shots here!

Wonder what stories those buildings and that truck could tell? Very interesting and a little spooky.

ReplyDeleteYep, except for the vines taking over, there are many of these places throughout the rural, backwoods South and people do live there. This one has electricity. . . some don't! Not sure I would've been out taking pictures of this!

ReplyDeleteThis was an interesting photo shoot all right. We passed this place on on our way out of Cherokee, NC, to visit another spot when we saw this. On the way back My Honey actually surprised me when he pulled off. We both got out of the car and hiked over to get some pictures. There was a guy sitting on a porch across a field and My Honey waved at him. If the guy hadn't waved back, we both probably would have run for the car.
My Honey and I both enjoy digital photography so we often have images of the same places. It is much more fun to be together to encourage each other than it would be to do this alone. It's probably safer, too, when taking pictures of places like the one posted here.
