After our visit with Tim Hall and his bride yesterday and after getting a recommendation for a good place for lunch, we went back up the street to Anthony's Italian Restaurant in the low building in the right of the above picture.
Anthony's is located directly across the street from the Bryson Train Station, the home of the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad.
We were not disappointed with the deluxe pizza. Of course, I had to eat a piece before I thought of taking a picture ;)
According to our server, Anthony's has been here for the past 16 years.
After lunch we took a stroll down the street to peer into store windows.
Right there in the newspaper office window was an afghan for sale. It is gorgeous. If I remember correctly, the price is $149.
And, finally, we passed a store with all the wonderful country products surely sold here for the last one hundred years.
This has been a fantastic visit to Bryson City. There is no doubt we will be back when the train is in service so we can take a ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad.
Best,
Lois

Lois, after yesterday's post about the Great Smokey RR, Grenville is so ready to go to Bryson City and now that we have a recommendation on where to eat, well it could be a done deal. And wouldn't it be fun if you and your Honey and we all went and took a ride on the same day...a hott as my good friend would say!
ReplyDeleteI love little towns like that. Always something interesting to look at.
ReplyDeleteAw, that pizza looks YUMMY!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend, Lois xxxx
Sounds like fun Lois. That pizza looked delicious!
ReplyDelete$149.00 for the afghan! Maybe I need to start selling my stuff!
Love Di ♥
Patty and I thought about moving to Tryon and or Hendersonville, North Carolina. Went down there to scout it out. Liked it. Don't remember why we never moved.
ReplyDeleteI left the following answer under your comment on my blog about my desk from NCR that I painted the dragon on...
"There was a Mr. Hayes who gave tours. I had one from him but Gene Kneiss was the regular tour guy. He did it for many years and knew the factory and men by heart. He finally got a desk job towards the end of his employment. I always wondered what happened to him. NCR is nothing like it was then. It was number one in cash registers and then Sweda from Sweden began selling a cheaper, much cheaper version and NCT just about threw in the towel. I remember our engineering department went through a model they released for service stations and we marveled at it. Wow. Memories."
Bryson City sounds like a must-stop-and-see town for anyone visiting the Smoky Mountains.
ReplyDeleteLike Batrice said, I'm ready to ride the GSMRR. In fact i sent a link to our Onley Station group. This makes three possible excursions, at least for us. Thanks for the great tip.
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteYes, this little town of Bryson City is just wonderful. We will surely return to ride the Great Smoky Mountains Rail Road. The next time we pass by between Florida and Cincinnati the rail road will be running. Perhaps we'll see Beatrice and Grenville there!
Thank you so much, everyone, for stopping by.
Very best,
Lois
