Heading Home - Part 3

Good morning,

Today is Part 3 of our trip home from Port Canaveral, Florida, to Ohio.

Some of you know My Honey was born in Norway.  In Norway, there are Trolls!  We are convinced there are Trolls in the USA, too.  See them up there in that picture?  These Trolls are in Tennessee.
You can find groups of them standing along the highway.
I'm sure if you walk into the forest, you'll find plenty of them in there, too.
Those Trolls don't move when we look at them, but I am sure they dance and play while we aren't looking.
The sky is still overcast, but right now the highway is clear and dry.
There is no question about political views here.  ;)
We made our regular stop in Pioneer, Tennessee, and bought two and a half pounds of fudge.  We always take some home to family and friends and have to be sure we have some left over for us.  Well, I guess we ate some on the way home, too.
I bought something to wear, too.  This is on the front of a t-shirt I'll wear when we go target shooting next week.
This little dinosaur egg will be part of our grandson's birthday present in November.
As soon as we left Pioneer, Tennessee, the fog set in.
It got thicker and thicker.
Soon we could barely see the vehicle ahead.  Traffic wisely slowed in this 70 mph stretch of I-75 in the mountains.
As we came down the mountain and neared the Tennessee-Kentucky border, the fog wasn't so bad.
The clouds still covered the tops of the mountains, though.
We are almost in Kentucky now.
Here we are passing the double white fences of the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.
And, 100 miles later Cincinnati is in sight.
We have now crossed the Ohio River between Kentucky and Ohio and will drive past downtown Cincinnati and into the Lytle Tunnel.
And, just beyond that light at the end of the tunnel and Eden Park is HOME!

I can almost smell bread baking!

I hope you've enjoyed our trip home this time.

Very best,
Lois

  3. That Kudzu vine always fascinated my children, when we visited the South. People have died, falling through it at the edge of cliffs, thinking ground was beneath. It's very invasive, spreading over 100,000 acres a year; native to Asia. It was planted originally to help with erosion.

Can you believe the temperatures in Cincinnati? 85 yesterday!

  10. Welcome home, Lois. Enjoyed the last part of the road trip from FL to OH, and enjoyed photos of the shopping spree. That is a funny t-shirt and maybe you will model it when you go target shooting. Seems you will be home to temps as warm as on your trip -- 85 degrees -- what happened to fall weather?

  11. Hello Lois
What a fabulous trip you had this time - I enjoyed driving home with you. How many days did it take with overnight stops or did you take turns and drive through the night?
Nice to see you the other day - thanks for dropping by

  13. Good morning,

Yes, it is wonderful to be home, that's for sure! Thanks for the warm welcome.

Wanda is so right that the kudzu vine is a terrible problem in the US. We have lived with it for a long time now and always see large patches of it when we are in the South. What was brought to be helpful turned out to be terribly harmful. There is more information about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kudzu

I love being home and enjoy all that comes with it: the housekeeping, the cooking, even the laundry. :) There is just nothing like Tide and Downy washed clothes and bedding.

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.

    Very best,
    Lois
