Water Taxi to Philipsburg, St. Maarten, Dutch West Indies

Good morning,

Today we are going for a ride in the water taxi from the cruise ship port into the town of Philipsburg, St. Maarten, Dutch West Indies.

The image above is looking back at Freedom of the Seas as we were walking to the water taxi dock.
Along the way we passed  huge piles of sand that were explained by this sign as part of the port expansion for even more cruise ships.
It is an easy walk to the water taxis...
...where we purchased a wrist band for 6 USD for unlimited water taxi rides for the day.
We boarded the water taxi within sight of our ship.
We were soon on our way for about a five minute ride across the bay to the city.
The sights of sail boats and fishing boats are gorgeous.
We passed another water taxi on the return trip...
...and very quickly found ourselves approaching the white sand beaches of Philipsburg.

The water taxi experience itself was fun, efficient, and reasonably priced.  Before we knew it we were stepping out on the dock.
There were plenty of chairs available on the beach;  I'm sure they were for rent.  But, we weren't here to sit in the sun or swim in the ocean.  We were here to walk through the old town and do a little shopping.  Tomorrow I'll have pictures of that walk through Philipsburg, St. Maarten.

Enjoy!

Best,
Lois

  5. Good morning,

Yes, this beach was lovely and it was fun to talk around the old town. It was very hot, though, and we think it'll be more comfy when we return in December.

    Thanks, everyone, for stopping by.

    Very best,
    Lois
