Here are some images of the Welcome Aboard Party on board Freedom of the Seas. I was standing on the Royal Promenade beneath the Sky Bridge where the entertainment is presented. Above are two vocalists entertaining the crowd before the Captain will appear and present his officers.
After the song, the bridge literally rises into the sky, well ceiling, high above the Royal Promenade.
Up and up it goes...
...until the bottom of the bridge becomes part of the ceiling many decks above.
The crowd mingles on the Royal Promenade...
...while some pose for formal photographs...
...and drinks are served "on the house." OK, that picture above isn't about drinks. It's about that dress. I couldn't resist when it was right in front of me. Is it the fashion now to sew zippers on the outside of clothing? I guess so. Oh, where have I been while all these changes in fashion took place?
Then, the sky bridge descends again...
...and the Captain greets the crowd below. After a short talk, he introduces...
the ship's senior officers...
...and department heads.
It's a fun presentation followed by a formal dinner in each of the the three dining rooms. If you don't care for a formal dinner, there are other restaurants on board where you can be more casual.
Ah, cruising is such fun!
Best,
Lois

That is quite a fan-fair Welcome!! I hate the dress....ugly ugly and that big zipper hanging out! BLAH!! looks ugly and it pouches out at her bottom! Not a nice fit at all....give me a nice hidden zipper any day! ...debbie
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a presentation they give. It all looks so impressive, professional, and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe 'Captain', his fellow oficers and the ship look very impressive, Lois. I can see how it might feel like a second home to you!
ReplyDeleteWow, what an entrance to descend on that skybridge! As for the dress, as Debbie says, it is ugly, ugly. Perhaps I'm showing my age when I say that most of the fashions now are ugly. The worst is that they are not flattering, even if you are skinny. If you are older and have bulges in places you prefer not to divulge to the world you end up just wearing what's in your closet.
ReplyDeleteGee I've been gone a week and I see you've been cruzin' all over the place! And if you ask me, fashion or not, the dress still looks inside out! So glad you've been having so much fun Lois!
ReplyDeleteLove Di ♥
Good morning,
ReplyDeleteThe presentation at the party is incredibly beautiful and well done. On some smaller ships it is done in a theater (not my preference) or in a lounge (nice for a small group.) Of course, there are no flying bridges on the smaller ships. :)
Yes, the dress is UGLY! I think all of us agree on that one. Elaine, you are so right! My objective is to find clothing that doesn't look frumpy while hiding a multitude of impefections at the same time. ;)
Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.
Very best,
Lois
Quite a way to present the ship's officers and staff and so very impressive to look at the photos. To be there, must be so much more exciting than presented here. And add my negatives to the dress, but the women was undoubtedly prettier.
