Stairways

Good morning,

I've been out and about the Freedom of the Seas with my camera again.

The image above was taken from Deck 12 looking straight down;  the forward part of the ship is behind me.  To the right and left are glass elevators.  If you look carefully through the glass doors, the carpet on the left side (port) is green;  the carpet on the right (starboard) is red.  These colors correspond to the colors of the navigation lights on the outside of the ship.  There is a beige pattern in the carpet in the center of each elevator lobby that shows through the doors on some of the lower floors on both sides, but the main colors are green and red on each side.  Fascinating detail.
This time I concentrated on some of the many stairways around the ship.
It is fascinating how different the stairs look in different lighting.
They provide wonderful opportunities for formal portraits, of course, but I really love the stairs themselves.
In addition to the stairways in the central areas of the ship, this set of stairs is found in the fitness center.  More images of that area to come....
And, not only are the stairs beautiful, take a look at the ceiling.  That structure replicates the structure of the bottom of a boat.

Every time I walk through this ship I find something else new.

I hope you're enjoying my photo tour with me.

Very best,
Lois

  1. It's amazing, Lois, that with all the shots of the stairs you shot, ot a single passenger was coming down or going up. That was a good thing as we got to see the amazing detail. How early did you get up?

  4. How lovely these staircases look, but where are all the people? Are you on the ship alone? or are they all outside on fire drill?

  8. Good morning,

Some of you have asked about the lack of people in the images. I have to laugh! You have no idea how long I had to stand in some spots to wait for the people to move out of the way so I could take the pictures. :) I do take many pictures on port days when most of the guests are ashore. I don't go ashore in every port. In fact, it is often the experienced cruisers who stay and enjoy the ship on port days. The ship is generally fully booked so there are plenty of people on board when we are sea. There are so many different venues for food, entertainment, and relaxation, though, that it never feels crowded.

There are so many stairs that I didn't take pictures of all of them; one that I missed was the stairway between the Royal Promenade and Casino Royale. I'll have to go back and get that one for a later post. It's pretty cool because you can hear what's happening as you walk by; the sounds lure you from one level to the other.

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by.

    Very best,
    Lois
