All Tied Up in Falmouth, Jamaica

Good morning,

Here are a few more pictures of our arrival aboard Freedom of the Seas when we tied up across the dock from Allure of the Seas.

It is fascinating to watch the men handle the lines that will hold our huge ship against the dock.

These men are walking out to the mooring platform.

The lines at the top of the image are lines from Allure of the Seas.  Freedom of the Seas lines will be tied up on the side of the mooring platform closest to the camera.

Amazing size perspective, isn't it!  Those men are pulling in lines that will hold our ship in place at the dock.

 I am taking pictures from Deck 10.

 And, finally, we are tied up.  I am standing on Freedom of the Seas;  that is Allure of the Seas across the dock.  Allure is the largest cruise ship in the world.  Freedom was largest until Allure was launched about a year ago.

Freedom of the Seas and Allure of the Seas in Jamaica

Good morning,

We're aboard Freedom of the Seas approaching Jamaica.  In the distance to the right of the above image is the world's largest cruise ship, Allure of the Seas.

The closer we get the larger she appears.

This is the view from the wing bridge of Freedom of the Seas.

I am ten decks above the sea so have an excellent view.

 What a gorgeous ship!

 The pilot has come aboard our ship to offer advice about the harbor to our captain.

 We have a wonderful view as we move around Allure to move into our spot at the dock.

 Allure is one ship size larger than the ship on which I am standing to take these images.

 Plenty of guests and crew were watching our arrival as we were watching them.

 We are now backing into our spot at the dock.

 ...on back!

 The size of Allure is overwhelming.

 Officers on the bridge of Allure are watching our arrival, too.

 We even got waves and cheers from the deck crew of Allure.  There are many friends among the crew from ship to ship and it is always good to see each other while in port.

This was a fabulous photo opportunity!

Deck the Halls

Good morning,

Everything is done in a big way aboard Freedom of the Seas including Christmas decorations.  The huge ornaments above are part of...

...the decorations in the forward part of the ship at the end of the Royal Promenade. 

Christmas has come to Freedom of the Seas.  :)

Dreamworks Parade at Sea

Good morning,

During every cruise we see the Dreamworks characters on board Freedom of the Seas.

At the end of each cruise there is a parade of the characters so I was there with my camera.  :)

The kids and the adults love this!

And, it's obvious the actors enjoy it, too.

 Of course, what I like the best is the characters we all know and love. 

 So much fun!

Johnny Rockets at Sea

Good morning,

Yes, we are still aboard Freedom of the Seas.  Yes, we are having lunch at Johnny Rockets.

It's fun to have so many different dining opportunities on board from the elegant to the casual.

I passed on a hamburger and had a club sandwich this time.  Yes, I did it again.  I took that first bite before I remembered to take the picture.  Sorry.  :\

Of course, all of the other good stuff comes with the sandwich.  

I tell everyone I come here for the root beer floats, but I do have to eat an onion ring or two while I'm here, too.  ;)

Our lunch was served by dancing waiters, we ate much too much, and we then waddled back to our cabins for a food-coma nap.

 Cruising is such fun.

Ice Show at Sea

Good morning,

A most unique attraction aboard Royal Caribbean ships is the ice show.  These images were taken aboard Freedom of the Seas.

For safety reasons flash photography is not permitted, but I was able to get pictures that give you a good idea of this fantastic event.

The skaters come from all over the world and many are Olympic skaters.

If you take a cruise, be sure to attend the ice show!  It's included in the price of your cruise and is winner entertainment.

Under the Sea

Good morning,

Today's images were taken by our daughter, Catherine, while she was snorkeling at Coco Cay, Bahamas.

Every time she is on board Freedom of the Seas with us, an important activity is snorkeling either here at Coco Cay or at Labadee.

 

The crystal clear water provides for great photo opportunities.

So many beautiful fish!

One of the attractions is "the plane crash site."  The plane was brought in for this so no one was hurt here.  It makes for some fun exploring and great pictures!
