I just love our Hearty Hibiscus. These beautiful blossoms bring us joy for weeks from late Summer into Autumn.
Just beautiful.

Our sweet Elsa cannot get close enough to us. Here she is leaning on my leg in my bed.
Elsa is so very special. She knows when we don't feel well and is always there to comfort us. She just quietly gets close and cuddles.
So precious.
As I've heard so many times, a most precious life experience is the love of a dog.

We have quite a few wild strawberries on our property. This is the first year for a long time that we've seen bunnies here, too.
We have hawks in the neighborhood so the bunnies "disappeared" for several years in a row. We're glad to see the bunnies back.
It's fun to see our pups go out in the morning and "track" the critters who have been through our yard overnight. One day recently, there was a human back there who didn't belong. We caught a partial image of him on our security cameras as he entered and left over the fence near our pond. He was lucky there weren't any dogs in the yard when he was here.
Life has changed, hasn't it....
Lois
Good morning,
Elsa isn't shy. She does this regularly to get her daddy's attention.
For awhile, he tries to pretend he doesn't notice, but that doesn't work for long.
So cute!

It is so much fun to watch the birds at our feeder.
On this sunny morning I shared some of my home made bread (no preservatives) that seem to hit the spot for our feathered friends.
Enjoy!

It has been a very busy month since our last Needlework and Wood Working Update. We are hard at work making items for the shop for the holiday season. Be sure to scroll all the way down to see the gorgeous items Kjell has made this month, too!
We hope you'll visit our shop as you look for gifts for family, friends, and yourself: https://EvensensProductions.Etsy.com.
Above is a very highly textured intricate Bavarian Stitch Afghan Blanket. This blanket will be a beautiful gift for a man or a woman. It is also an elegant wedding gift. $165. There is only one available; more images and information are here.
We certainly have been busy this month. We hope you'll take a virtual stroll through our shop, Evensens Productions. Perhaps you'll find that special item for yourself or that other special person. https://evensensproductions.etsy.com
We appreciate your encouragement, likes, shares, pins, favorites, and purchases, too! Questions? Please ask!
All the very best,
Lois
Last call! Before we go to bed each evening we take all the pups out for their last potty break for the night.
The evening I took this image we had two extra pups here for a sleep over so there were six ( two of ours aren't pictured) of them!
The border collies are Teddy and Tillie who belong to our friend Erica. She travels a great deal for her work so Teddy and Tillie come here rather than having to go to a kennel while their mommy is gone.
I think they sometimes think they live here. They are very good pups.
All the best,
Lois
I snapped this image of the World Headquarters of Procter & Gamble at the corner of Fifth and Sycamore in downtown Cincinnati.
We were waiting for Catherine to pick us up after an appointment. Catherine was kind enough to give us valet service so that we wouldn't have to walk far from parking to our appointment.
Thank you so much, Catherine.
All the best,
Lois
I snapped this image from the 19th floor of the First Financial Center in downtown Cincinnati.
We're overlooking the Ohio River looking up stream. That's affectionately called the Big Mac Bridge out there and Northern Kentucky on the other side.
Way to the left is Mt. Adams, with the Church of the Immaculata at the top.
Beautiful Ohio....
Lois
I had to zoom to be able to see this pretty American Goldfinch.
Catherine sent me the image that she captured with her phone camera. The bird was "hiding" among so many pretty flowers it is amazing we can see it at all.
Thanks, Catherine. This is a lovely image catch.
Love you,
Mom
Here's part of our security team on their chargers.
Erik is on duty now while these gals get a little rest from their high powered jobs.

Catherine did a major clean-out of her car after removing all of the dog crates and other dog gear.
Lily jumped into the car and was totally confused to see it so empty. She seems to be asking, "Where's my stuff?"
So cute.

Kjell gets the photo credit for this one.
Our pretty blonds enjoy sun bathing, even when it's really hot outside. When it is super hot, they aren't out there long, but they certainly do love the sun.
We always go out with our pups and are careful to get then inside to stay cool on hot days. If it's too hot for us out there, it is certainly too hot for them.
Ah, yes, summer....
Lois
It's a good thing Kjell took this picture when he did! These are three little solar fountains in our gold fish pond.
Lily has made sure they are no longer functioning. She "caught" them and delivered them to the patio.
She has also been fishing for goldfish. I have asked Kjell to make a "No Fishing!" sign for the pond.
Kids!
Summer is such fun with a puppy.

Happy Birthday to My Honey, Kjell.
Here Elsa is keeping an eye on her Daddy. Actually, she is requesting a cookie. Kjell is trying not to notice - at least for awhile.
Yes, she got the cookie.
Retirement is good.
Happy Birthday, Sweetheart!
Love you,
Lois
Well, here it is the end of summer already! Labor Day, the unofficial end of summer, is a day to celebrate all who work.
It's also a day to have that last cook out of the summer. In our household, though, we cookout year round. Catherine has been known to grill the Thanksgiving turkey while it is snowing.
We are looking forward to cooler days of Fall.
To my USA readers: Enjoy your holiday!
Lois
Here's a lovely hibiscus that is growing happily at the end of our fireplace log rack outside.
I just love these flowers. They have reseeded themselves all over our property.
So pretty!

Good morning,
A couple of days ago I published images of our pups having a play date with three other pups.
There were LOTS of toys on the patio and all over the yard.
Before the toys can come back into the living room, they have to take a trip through the washer and dryer.
Above, they are going for a spin in the washer....
Ah, yes, being a dog parent is such fun....

Lois
At the beginning of the Summer we were warned that this would be a huge season for cicadas.
Well, not so much here. We saw and heard very few of them.
Perhaps they are all saving up for a surprise attack next year.
Stay tuned!

Lois
A little bit of chaos can be fun sometimes. Today's images were taken when we had SEVEN dogs here.
There are more than enough toys to go around, but...
This was fun - for awhile! I know the pups had fun and they sure were tired after this.
All the best,
Lois
That's Elsa in the picture. She did NOT kill the stuffy toy that is dismembered in our entrance hall.
The culprit is her little sister, Lily.
Ah, yes, puppies....

A few years ago Kjell built a lovely ladder-style plant holder.
The first year we had flowers on each of those shelves and they were quite pretty.
This year, though, he has added a watering system and has planted veggies in the pots and shelves. The watering system is quite efficient. Well, I am married to an engineer....That blue tub captures rain water. When it doesn't rain enough, Kjell adds water to it. That's a mosquito net top that allows water to enter the tub, but no mosquitos to find a happy home there.
The system is powered by the sun to keep the water flowing at specific times of the day as determined by Kjell.
