Stash Buster Pot Holder/Hot Pad - Crochet

Good morning,

Here's another very simple project that produces something very useful for yourself or for a hostess gift.  It would be a good way to teach new crocheters how to crochet in the round, too.  I made these because I needed a couple more hot pads that I can also use as pot holders.

If you make this bigger, it becomes a rug or a wall hanging.  Ah, the possibilities.  ;)

Sometimes the simple things are the things that are easiest to make and most useful. If you'd like to make them, my pattern is below.

Lois

Hot Pad/Pot Holder - Crochet

Size N crochet hook

Use either super bulky yarn, or use any combination of yarns that produce a close fabric with an N hook in double crochet. Pictured are 2 strands of #4, and 2 strands of crochet cotton held together.

Simple instructions:

Round 1: Ch 4, join to make a circle, ch 2 (always counts as first dc), 11 dc in ring (12 dc)

Round 2: 2 dc in each st. (24 dc)

Rounds 3 - 5: Increase 12 dc in each round. (60 dc after round 5)

Break off, weave in ends.

Or, keep on going and you'll have a rug or wall hanging. ;)

Okay! this is really great! This is something I can do and you make me want to find my crochet needle and get to it! Humm... the question is...would my new little kitty let me?? I've just finished taping up all the wires in the house (amazing how many there are) because he seems to think electrical wires make the best toy... Ah... I love having an animal in the house again!! Keeps me hopping!
Blessings!

I have some of those now that I have had for 20+ years and they are still in great shape. Just throw them in the wash and they come out great!! ...debbie

Good morning,

Yes, since I made these we've used them every day. I'll have to make a few more so I can have back up if something gets spilled on these and they have to spend a couple of hours in the laundry room. ;)

Thanks, everyone, for stopping by.

Very best,
Lois
